She's already on her third Pan Galact Gargle Blaster - fully drunk and looking to get drunker as she pulls a final sip of the heady stuff up to her lips for another drought. One last burst of forced apathy, before she puts the glass down.]

Barbara's gone.

[The feed clicks off.]

[Drunk - this much drunk - is very much different than buzzed; it's different from her normal drunk too. It isn't relaxed, or teasing; it isn't even apathetic anymore; it's angry; it's enraged - at herself, at the Admiral, at whatever the hell gets in her way.

Drunk; angry; and capable of punching through most walls - it's probably a good thing she's found her way into the gym. Not that the punching bag can take much more of her. Not when each punch pushes it to the end of its chain.]

ooc: Here for a few hours, and then gone until Weds. :( Putting this up to let everyone react, and because Faith can honestly use the support.

[It pisses him off a little, to hear someone talk about Barbara like they know her better than he does, even if it's not really fair. The Barbara who was here wasn't the same woman Dick had been friends with, had loved, but he still can't help the flash of anger.] The Barbara in my world was shot, point blank, too. She survived. There is no way in hell this one didn't.

You're not giving her enough credit.

[And just like that her red eyes slowly fade away, hissing as the tears evaporate in contact with the heat.]

[Dick's expression softens a little. He's upset too, but it's easier to focus on other people and not on himself, because it's hard not to feel like he's been losing a lot of people lately, and it's better not to focus on it.] And you're going to. It's okay to miss her, but I promise she's going to be fine.

You wanna try? [Her item - always able to pinpoint Barbara - suddenly can't find her; the room's empty; she isn't anywhere on the ship...\

[She's not in the mood to laugh; or she would be.] Figures.

You're kicking her when she's down. Come on, I've still got plenty of ice cream.

Not your Barbara, is she. [She says it bitterly. Not that she knew that they were from the same world, before this, but... When Barbara first came, she asked for help. She asked Steph point blank for advice. For thoughts on her world's Barbara.

And got told outright that they weren't the same; to go away; and now Barbara's gone; and someone's comparing the two - like they can just pick and choose in which ways this one resembled the other, and treat them the same?

Dick isn't the only one who's pissed.]

He killed her.

No, he didn't. [It's firm, stating a fact. There was no way it could have happened like that, and he wasn't letting it go.]

Then how'd she show up here?

'Cause blaming it on the admiral's so much easier?

Because sometimes whatever force that brings people and takes them away again grabs them before they actually die. That's why someone like Tony can go home and come back a few days later. If you want to think she let someone like the Joker kill her that easily, that's your problem, but I know she's fine.

Everybody dies... [The anger's a little muted, now - buried beneath an ocean of miserable; she's not just talking about Barbara.]

[Dick just looks confused for a moment, not sure where she's going with this. Hell, he's not even sure if she knows why he'd give much of a damn about Barbara.] What's that supposed to mean?

It's a thing, Dick; part of being the slayer. Everybody dies; doesn't matter which side they're on. Just dust in the wind.

[She cares; she cares quite a bit. Partially because she liked Barbara herself, and partially because she had finally begun to break through; was finally starting to get through Barbara's shell when everything went to hell.]

It's a thing about what we do, too. [And while he's not necessarily going to directly come out and say I'm Nightwing- Batman, whichever, he wasn't really sure anymore, that's him more or less admitting he's involved in the whole cape and cowl business.]

And I'm not saying you don't get to be upset about it, but getting drunk and making a scene isn't what Barbara would have wanted.

Because the world isn't black and white. Nothing is that simple. Maybe it was something she did. Maybe it was someone back in her world. Maybe it was just a fluke. There's no good reason to blame yourself except that you want to.

[This is a guilt he knows well, since he lost his first inmate to Barge Disappearance.]

It happens sometimes. There's nothing you could've done to change it.

Gonna start wondering how you knew her. [Mostly a deflection; she suspects Barbara would have been just fine with her getting drunk - this Barbara liked to drink - but... the scene? No; she wouldn't have approved of that.]
